New Study Links Aluminium Intake to Osteoporosis and Alzheimer's Disease - How to Reduce Exposure
Andrew Puhanic,
ContributorActivist PostA new study published in the International Journal of Electrochemical Science has discovered that
cooking with aluminium increases the risk of developing Osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s Disease. The human body can tolerate 1mg of aluminium per 1kg of bone weight before it begins to accumulate in the brain.
ASTONISHINGLY, it was found that up to
139.2 milligrams of aluminium per person could be consumed in one meal depending on how the food was prepared.
It is common practice around the world to cook, prepare and store food
in aluminium. When aluminium is cold, leakage into food is minimal.
However,
when food is prepared in environments above 150c (302f), aluminium leakage into food becomes alarming. The researchers examined five different types of meat (beef, water
buffalo, mutton, chicken, and turkey) that were packed in aluminium foil
and cooked in ovens at various temperatures above 150c.
They found that
aluminium concentration exploded by 378% in red meats and 215% in poultry. It was also identified that fat content in meat, in
addition to the cooking process, impacted on how much aluminium was
found in food.
It was also revealed that highly acidic foods wrapped in aluminium foil
contained twice the amount of aluminium and that the size of an
aluminium cooking pan also determined how much aluminium leaked into
food.
Food manufacturers frequently use aluminium to store and preserve food.
It’s cheap and highly malleable. However, there are ways to reduce your
intake of aluminium from your diet.
How to Reduce Aluminium from Your Diet1) Ordinarily, drinking water contains low levels of aluminium.
Therefore, try to avoid drinking water and fizzy drinks that are stored
in aluminium containers.
2) Avoid using
antiperspirants (deodorants) that contain aluminium. Many leading brands of antiperspirants contain large quantities of aluminium. In fact, a study published in the
Journal of Applied Toxicology found that long-term exposure of human mammary epithelial cells to aluminium resulted in an elevated risk of developing cancer.
3) It is recommended to take calcium, magnesium and zinc supplements to
help prevent your body from accumulating high levels of aluminium.
4) There are alternative remedies and food that can help detox
the body of aluminium. Lemon Juice, Turmeric, Garlic, Kelp and Cilantro
are all widely used to detox the body of Aluminium. Also, soaking your
feet for 30 minutes or more in a solution of Epsom salts (1/2 cup) and
sea salt (1/2 cup) can remove aluminium through your feet.
