Hemp Can Save America and the World!
The good news is we’ve found a plant that can save the world. The bad news is…it’s illegal!Neenah Payne
Activist Post What if a plant could save the economy, end the oil wars, restore the
environment, improve everyone’s heath, provide nutritious foods as well
as safer cars, healthier homes, better clothes, and more paper of
higher-quality while protecting our forests? Would you agree it’s a
super plant that America desperately needs?
Hemp is that plant. While the federal government bans the growth of
industrial and medical hemp, marijuana reform is sweeping the states
with over 80% of the country having reduced penalties for cannabis. The
recent
New York Times article “The Fight Over Medical Marijuana”
documented the tragedies caused by this conflict. A medical hemp grower
in Montana who was in compliance with state laws was arrested by federal
agents and faces life in jail.
“
As Feds Crack Down on Medical Pot, Groundbreaking Lawsuit Fights Back” shows the many legal aspects of this states’ rights battle. The film
Code of the West addresses this issue by asking “Who gets to write the codes we live
by?” California Gov. Jerry Brown reminded Obama recently, "It's time for
the Justice Department to recognize the sovereignty of the states . . .
We are capable of self government."
“
R.I.P: Marijuana Prohibition”
points out that the game just changed: “The citizens of Colorado,
Washington and Massachusetts delivered game changing victories for the
nearly fifty year-old cannabis law reform Movement . . . the die for
major cannabis law reforms is now cast.”
In 2008, Obama promised to respect state hemp laws.
Now’s the time to make good on that promise.
In addition, Obama’s support for legalization of industrial and medical
hemp would bring immediate Hope and Change -- and would reward
Americans for still believing in him enough to give him 4 more years.
End the War on DrugsOur Founding Fathers required farmers to grow hemp because it is so
beneficial. Henry Ford created a hemp car powered by hemp ethanol.
Canada’s hemp car, the “Kestrel”, will debut in 2013. Because of
misguided policies, the US banned hemp in 1937. It’s time now for
America to recognize industrial and medical hemp as national treasures.
“
New Poll: 81 Percent Of Americans Support Legalizing Medical Marijuana” shows strong support for hemp as calls to end the War on Drugs escalate. Former President Jimmy Carter’s NY Times OpEd said: “
Call Off the Global Drug War”. Richard Branson of Virgin Atlantic and former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan made similar appeals. Ralph Nader pleaded, “
Let Our Farmers Grow Hemp”.
Law
Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP), an international organization
comprised of criminal justice professionals, called for an end to the
War on Drugs. The Executive VP of LEAP describes the War on Drugs as
“Public Enemy #1”.
America has dropped out of the top 10 most prosperous countries --
now in 12th place,
down from 6th in 2008. The US is the only industrialized country with
no hemp industry. We cannot afford to ignore hemp, the trillion-dollar
crop! In his opposition to legalization of industrial and medical hemp,
Obama is out of line with our best interests, American history, and the
will of the American people.
Author and futurist Barbara Marx Hubbard said, "Without vision, the
people perish...with vision we flourish". The secession petitions filed
in November by all 50 states show that the country is falling apart for
lack of a positive vision. It is urgent for Obama to announce an
initiative that can inspire and save America! Legalization of industrial
and medical hemp would unite the nation in a venture as visionary as
the Peace Corps and would allow America to thrive!
Industrial Hemp: Trillion-Dollar CropJack Herer, co-author of the ground-breaking book
The Emperor Wears No Clothes: The Authoritative Historical Record of Cannabis and the Conspiracy Against Marijuana said, “I don’t know if hemp’s gonna save the world, but I’ll tell you this… it’s the only thing that can”.
“
Hemp - Could Save America”
echoes that view. Legalization of industrial and medical hemp could be
the Tipping Point that allows us to avoid the escalating financial,
environmental, healthcare, and food crises, as well as the bankrupting
wars. It could shift the country to a sustainable paradigm.
Some of the benefits of industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa) are:
- Cars – 10 times stronger and 3 times lighter than steel, biodegradable!
- Biofuel – replaces oil, saves environment, ends oil wars
- End Fracking of Our Water – hemp fuel would make coal unnecessary
- Plastics – replaces 6,000 products made from petroleum, saves land fills
- Homes – more energy-efficient, negative footprint, longer-lasting
- Clothes – more comfortable, warmer in winter, cooler in summer, durable
- Paper – 4x as much pulp as from trees, better quality paper, protects forests
- Foods/Drinks – mega-nutrition, superfood
- Free of Toxins -- does not need herbicides, fungicides, or pesticides
- Radiation Repair – reverses nuclear contamination of soil
Medical Hemp: Panacea Medical hemp (Cannabis indica, aka “marijuana”) has been used in the
treatment of over 100 diseases and ailments. However, the most
revolutionary news is the discovery by Canadian Rick Simpson that the
oil from the buds of the hemp plant is a cure all! He used the oil to
treat 5,000 people – curing many “terminal” illnesses.
Simpson’s story is documented in the film
Run From the Cure which can be found on his website at:
http://www.phoenixtears.ca/. His new book
PhoenixTears: The Rick Simpson Story covers the phenomenal rise of one of the most important movements in human history. In the amazing July 2012 interview “
Max Igan Talks To Rick Simpson – Hemp As A Cancer Cure”, Simpson discusses the urgent need for countries to legalize medical hemp.
World Hemp Congress 2012 Max Igan’s speech at the World Hemp Congress 2012 provides an overview
of the importance of hemp, the reasons it was banned, and why it should
be legalized. He says change must be mandated by the people:

If we fail to act, we are through our own
negligence risking life itself. [Hemp] provides mankind with one of the
greatest opportunities for effective change we’ve have ever been
presented with.

Hemp Bills in Congress The following bills are pending in Congress. If not passed, similar bills will need to be introduced in early 2013:
- H.R. 1831: Industrial Hemp Farming Act” to legalize industrial hemp.
- HR 2306: Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2011”.
- S. 3501: Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2012”, a companion to H.R. 1831.
- An amendment to the “Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act of 2012” to legalize production of industrial hemp.
